Now, mercury rises to 38 degree celsius

There was no relief from the heat on Thursday, as the mercury soared even higher to 38.0 C from 37.3C on Wednesday.
It was the seventh consecutive day that the meteorological centre recorded a maximum temperature above 37C. The earlier record of four consecutive days of over 37C in 1984 and 2004 was scorched on March 5, 2013.
If some relief, as was forecast by the met office earlier, was expected from the severe heat, it didn't happen on Thursday.
"The maximum temperature may not go down below 37C for one more day (Friday)," met centre director K V Singh said.
Though nights had been pleasant during the scorching first week of summer, the night time temperature rose to 23.5C on Thursday. It had been hovering around 22C during the last few days. [TOI]
