Now, pay for VIP rooms at GMC

Very important persons (VIPs) will soon be able to take up accommodation at the Goa medical college (GMC) and hospital, Bambolim. The rooms remained closed even after their inauguration five months ago. "A total of 50 rooms-25 rooms on each floor, in the centrally located block on the GMC premises will be open in the next 10 to 15 days," Swapnil Naik, director, administration, told TOI.
The VIP rooms could not be opened immediately after they were inaugurated due to issues pertaining to the posting of staff nurses and class IV employees.
"There were issues pertaining to nurses and class IV employees that needed to be sorted out, which is why rooms could not be commissioned earlier," Naik said, adding that the issue has now been sorted out.
There will be about 21 nurses allotted to the VIP rooms with seven nurses per shift. The VIP rooms were closed for over two years after the block was closed for renovation.
"The services in the VIP rooms will be on par with services offered at any good private hospital in the state. The rates for room have been notified," Naik said.
The room charges will be 1,250 per day, however, other rates pertaining to visiting charges of consultants, operation charges and other minor charges are being worked out. "All services offered in VIP rooms will be charged," he added. [TOI]
