Now, ticketed seats for Carnival parade in city
The commissioner of Corporation of City of Panaji, Mr Sanjit Rodrigues on Monday said the Panaji Carnival 2013 committee would reserve 1000 seats for senior citizens and tourists on the payment of `350 and `250 for each seat at two locations of the city during the Carnival float parade.
Addressing media persons, Mr Rodrigues said as many senior citizens and tourists approach them for ticketed seats they thought of providing this facility of reserved seats.
Mr Rodrigues informed that there would be a three-tier seating arrangements during the Carnival float parade, and 1000 seats would be reserved on payment. Out of these 500 seats costing `350 each would be made available opposite Hotel Mandovi, while other 500 seats would be made available at the Ferry Wharf for `250 each.
Stating that they want to revive celebration of traditional Carnival, this year, Mr Rodrigues informed that entertainers would be engaged to celebrate the Carnival for four days in a different way in the heart of the city. The celebrations would be at the Garcia Gardens, wherein special kids’ corner, music fiesta and food corner would be held.
All four roads around the Garcia Gardens will be declared as No Mo Zone on Sunday, but from Monday onwards the road leading to the Hindu Pharmacy will be kept open for vehicular traffic. There will be a pedestrian zone which will imbue Carnival milieu for revelers, wherein a lot of games for children and contests on art, laughter, fancy dress and craft will be held. [NT]
