Oh fish! Nustem back on plates after two days

Fish markets reopened on Thursday after observing a two-day strike, but there wasn't too much fish available.

While the trawlers are still anchored at their respective jetties, the fish supply to the markets came from motorized boats and from neighbouring states.

The wholesale fish market in Margao and the retail fish markets across South Goa resumed their business on Thursday after remaining shut for two days.

Fish continued to be sold at higher rates as the supply was scarce and could not cope with the demand. While fishing trawlers remained anchored at the jetties continuing its protest, sources said, fewer trucks carrying fish from across the state arrived at Margao, as there was uncertainty over the resumption of the fish trade.
