Ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lakh stolen from Cacora temple


 Some unknown persons effected entry into the temple at Cacora and committed theft of items worth around Rs 1,50,000.
According to Curchorem police, Mr Anant Suresh Gurav, the priest of Shri Betal Dev temple, Cacora, has lodged a complaint stating that on March 27, some unknown culprits effected entry into garbhkud of the said temple by breaking the latch and committed theft of the items, worth around Rs 1,50,000, adorning Shri Betal Dev.
A police team visited the place and later conducted panchanama and registered offence under Section 454, 380 of IPC.
Meanwhile, Maina-Curtorim police have registered a complaint on behalf of the state that on March 25, the alleged accused, Vandana Singh of Raia Salcete, driver of car (GA-08 A-1076) without having driving licence, drove the same in a rash and negligent manner endangering human life, while proceeding from Margao towards Raia and dashed against a pedestrian, Ms Maria Barreto of Raia, causing severe injuries to Ms Baretto.
Further, the said lady car driver dashed into a parked TVS Scooty (GA-02 N-8046) damaging it. Police said that a case of accident has been registered under Section 279, 338 IPC and 3 of M V Act.
Meanwhile, on March 27, the Margao police found the body of a male, of age between 50 to 60 years, lying near the railway station at Margao. [NT]
