Panch demands action against Macasana sarpanch

Margao: Pancha member of Macasana Panchayat Francis D’Costa has demanded action against Sarpanch Cristina Vaz for not conducting gram sabha meetings in the village since July 2016 and pleaded that the villagers should not be constrained to file disqualification petition.
In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Francis has pointed out that the Director of Panchayats has not taken any action with regards to four memorandums submitted to him earlier with the first dated August 4, 2016.
In the three memorandums submitted by him to the Director of Panchayat it was pointed out that no gram sabha has been held in the village since July 2016 when the Sarpanch abandoned the gram sabha and did not return to complete the proceedings. While appealing to Parrikar to take action in the matter, he has also threatened to move the vigilance department for action against the Director of Panchayats for ignoring the earlier memorandums.
