Panjim Footballers win GFA 3rd Division League

Panjim Footballers huffed and puffed to a 1-0 win over Guardian Angel Sports Club, Savordem in the state finals of the GFA Third Division League match played at Duler grounds, here on Sunday.

Panjim Footballers who had already made it to the Second Division for the coming season, won the long-awaited state finals.
It was the U-18 Panjim lads who don the Panjim Footballers jerseys dominated throughout the 90-minute duel, but the much awaited goal came in the 86th minute of play through Leichonnan Singh who after getting hold of a through pass on the right flank from medio Akeraj Martins finished with a stiff grounder.
In the very next minute, substitute Manuel Fernandes should have doubled their lead, but his strike was fisted over the post by keeper Jovial Coutinho
Earlier, Panjim Footballers missed at least three to four scoring opportunities from Joel Fernandes, Alwyn D’Souza, Akeraj Martins and Jesus Estrocio. [NT]
