Parsekar only inaugurating ‘Cong projects’: Reginaldo
Congress MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco Friday said, “In the last eight months Health Minister (Laxmikant Parsekar) has done nothing but is only inaugurating projects started and completed by then Congress government,” including the new facilities inaugurated at Goa Medical College and Hospital on Thursday.
Speaking at a press conference, Reginaldo said that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar cannot take the credit for what was already sanctioned and started by the then Congress government.
Parrikar on Thursday commissioned four new units – Incinerator, CT scan, ICU and system changes that will offer CT scan, digital x-ray and ultra sound in one facility. Reception, pay ward and other facilities were also inaugurated.
The Curtorim MLA claimed that medical equipment were ordered by the former government and that 100 capacity state-of-art morgue, five operation theatres which are nearing completion were sanctioned by Congress.
Meanwhile, responding to Parrikar’s scathing attack against Congress leaders and NGOs dealing with mining issues, Reginaldo said ‘it shows the frustration of Parrikar and sometimes one wonders whether Parrikar has lost his balance’.
“The outburst against the NGOs and Congress leaders such as Churchill Alemao, Vishwajeet Rane and me only goes to strengthen the fact that Parrikar believes in a dictatorial style of functioning and does not believe in democracy,” he added.
Parrikar had commented on Thursday that people should get rid of leaders (naming Alemao, Rane and others) for the betterment of Goa and Goans.
and its people.
He also stated that mining activists should come out from their air-conditioned bungalows and live in villages. In particular he singled out Claude Alvares who was responsible for filing a PIL in Supreme Court which brought mining to a halt.
“…my fight against illegal mining and mining sharks will continue till the Supreme Court fixes accountability and recovers from the people who have looted the state,” he said. [H]
