Pax of Nagoa reach semi-finals
Pax of Nagoa entered the semi-finals of Wilred Leisure Super Soccer when they blanked Dicarpale SC 3-0 at DSYA grounds, Curtorim on Wednesday.
At half time, Nagoa were leading 1-0 with a fantastic goal scored by Manuel D’Costa in the very 4th minute of play. He then went on to complete his brace in the second session, finding the mark in the 58th minute. George Pereira had increased the score to 2-0 in favour of Pax, bulging the nets in the 49th minute. But then it was Manuel who quickly made it 3-0 to humble Dicarpale.
The scoreline, however, was not an indication of the proceedings of the match today as both the teams matched each other well enough. Had only the strikers of the Dicarpale team been more accurate, they could have at least reduced the margin. But that had not to be as the Dicarpale strikers went on missing several chances that came their way.
On the other hand, Pax team’s strikeforce did a commendable job finding the mark whenever opportunities came their way.
The very fact that they scored quite early through Manuel who beat Dicarpale keeper Rostoan Miranda was a clear indication that the Nagoa team meant business.
Their strikers combined well along with the midfielders and were able to find goals with ease even though the Dicarpale defence stood their grounds well to thwart several forays into their territory.
The first half was closely fought but then in the second session the pressure began to tell on the Dicarpale lads with their keeper being helpless.
Dicarpale’s Parison Rebello and Sam Furtado could have done much better when chances came to them but their shots were wayward. Pax of Nagoa now await the winners of Wilred Lesiure vs Goa Velha to clash in the semis. [NT]
