Petrol pump employee held for fuel theft

 

Panaji police on late Sunday night arrested Sarvesh Chari of Chorao, an employee of the petrol pump at Caranzalem-Panaji, on charges of stealing petrol worth Rs 2.16 lakh from the pump.
 
Police sources said that the accused was working at the petrol pump and he was called for interrogation at the police station for theft of around 3,880 litres of petrol. "During the interrogation, the accused confessed to committing the crime," said police sources.The accused was produced before the judicial magistrate first class, Panaji, and remanded to four days police custody. Police also said that the accused was committing petrol theft for many days and on Saturday he had not stayed at the petrol pump. On Sunday, the accused, himself, brought to the notice of the owner about the petrol theft. Further investigations are underway. [TOI]
