Petrol pump robbed in Margao

There seems no let up in the spate of thefts and burglaries in the commercial Captial.
Even as the Margao police have attributed the burglaries to a four-member gang on the prowl, a petrol pump at Fatorda became the latest target of burglars last night.
The incident came to light on Sunday morning when the petrol pump manager came to open the pump, only to find the office door wide open.
Upon inquiries, he found a laptop and the CPU, besides a keyboard missing from the office. There was no major cash stored in the petrol pump office, sources said.
A Margao police team visited the petrol pump later in the day following a complaint lodged by the owner.
The city has witnessed a spate of thefts and burglaries over the last one month, with the police unable to lay their hands on the burglars. Though the Margao police headed by PI Sudesh Naik have maintained that a four-member gang are on the prowl in the city, the men-in-uniform have so far failed to nab the gang members, who are believed to be moving in underwears as evident by a CCTV footage.
Questions are raised over the efficacy of the police to nab the four-member gang, as the thieves and burglars have created a sense of insecurity amongst the residents with the miscreants gaining entries in households by removing window grills. [H]
