Picnicking at Varca beach may now come for a price

Replying to a host of questions from the members, Varca Sarpanch Luiza Rodrigues on Sunday told the gram sabha that the panchayat has directed all multi-housing projects in the village to install composting unit within two months.
The sarpanch said she along with members of the panchayat body would conduct a survey from December 1, whether the multi-dwelling units have complied with the directions.
The gram sabha was informed that environmentalist Clinton Vaz has been entrusted the job of collecting waste twice on the 15th and 30th of every month from the households. It was also decided to engage a person to keep a check on picnickers along the village beach belt and to charge a fee of Rs 100 for a picnic bus and Rs 50 for a pick-up van carrying picnickers to the beach.
