Plaint against unregistered water sports operators
Water sports operators from Calangute have complained that many unregistered boat owners are carrying out their trade at Calangute.
In a complaint to the director of Tourism Department, the water sports operators have stated that many unregistered boat owners are forcibly carrying out their trade in the waters of Calangute and have requested the department to stop the boat owners from operating “illegally”.
“We have to literally do marketing to attract customers due to competition from the unregistered boat owners. We want it to be stopped or else it. A policeman on duty from 9 am to 5 pm could however be a better option to stop the boats from operating,” said a sports operator.
When contacted, Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said he was unaware about it. “I will enquire with the sports operators of the illegalities,” stated Lobo.
“I will impress upon the water sports operators to strictly follow the queue system and not to fight among themselves and spoil the sports activities which enables them to make a livelihood,” added Lobo. [H]
