Police arrest shack owner for playing loud music

Calangute: A beach shack owner was arrested at Candolim late Wednesday night for playing loud music in his shack without any permission.

Following a complaint lodged with the sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) at Porvorim Serafin Dias, Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi and a team of police personnel raided the shack at Vaddi, Candolim, between 9.50 and 11.50pm and found that loud music was being played open-air without any permission, thereby violating rule 4(1) of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000. Shack owner Narayan Naik, 40, was arrested and a laptop, amplifier, mixer and speakerstogether estimated to be worth Rs 2 lakhwere attached. [TOI]
