Police register second FIR against accused

Konkan Railway police on Sunday registered a second FIR against the native from Gokak-Karnataka, accused of the sexually assaulting and molesting four minor schoolgirls.
After his arrest on Saturday, the accused has been remanded to one-day police custody by Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao on Sunday. He would be produced before the Children’s Court on Monday.
Konkan Railway DySP, Sammy Tavares told newsmen that the second FIR was registered against the accused Venkatesh alias Venkappa Kundri for the offence of molesting two other girls.
Replying to a question, he said the medical examination report has not given any opinion in the absence of any fresh or remote injuries on the private parts of the victims.
DySP Tavares along with PI Vincy Paes interrogated the accused on Sunday noon to unearth his modus operandi and whether he was involved in molesting minor children in the past. “We are investigating whether the accused was involved in any more sexual offenses against minor children,” he said.
The Konkan railway police said the accused was working as a labourer in the Gandhi market area and had no fixed place of stay. “The accused claimed that he was staying at the old Margao railway station area. We are trying to probing into this angle,” he said. [H]
