Police urge ice cream parlours to act responsible


The police have requested ice cream parlours and juice centre to desist from having cabinets to prevent misuse by anti-social elements and assault against women.
District police chief, Shekhar Prabhudessai conveyed this message to ice cream owners at a meeting convened by Margao police in order to sensitize them on the need to be vigilant, particularly vis-à-vis atrocities against women.
SP Prabhudesai emphasized that ice cream parlours and juice centres should be secure places where public can come to relax and enjoy. He said that police would soon launch a check to stop displaying of cigarettes and Tabaco in public places, while warning of action against the violators. He also informed of the new 24X7 help line 1091 introduced by police for a victim. 
Women’s activist, Auda Viegas lamented that unwanted elements have taken advantage of cabins in the parlours to carry out their nefarious activities. 
Journalist Anil Pai stated that every citizen is responsible to the society and it is the duty of every citizen to work with honesty. He further said that there is need of public to have good relation with police who work for better of society as the unity shall help to destroy ill. He later proposed vote of thanks.  [H]
