Ponda council passes budget of Rs 27.67cr


With barely a fortnight to go before the Ponda Municipal Council's ( PMC) term comes to an end on February 6, the council passed a balanced budget of Rs 27.67 crore for the fiscal year 2013-2014.
The budget was passed at a council meeting which pegged the expenditure at 27.67 crore with a fund allocation of 1.67 crore for garbage management which includes purchase of excavators, garbage compactors and night soil tankers, among others.
The budget has also estimated the income from receipts, tax collections and issue of NOCs, etc while the administration expenditure has been pegged at 5.92 crore while an allocation of 27 lakh has been made for lightning. The public works has a budget allocation of 1.93 crore.
The council also passed a unanimous resolution to auction sopo collection at 51 lakh for the year 2013-14. The new sopo tax collection will commence from April 1. [TOI]
