Ponda theft case: seventh accused held


Ponda Police recently arrested the seventh accused in connection with the assault and stealing cash and mobile phones from three pedestrians along the Daag-Ponda road.
Police arrested the accused and recovered two mobile phones and cash of Rs 2,300 from the accused.
It may be recalled that Rockey Sharma from Ambegal-Ponda had lodged a complaint with Ponda police stating that seven persons on three two-wheelers had assaulted them and took away cash of Rs 2,300 and two mobile phones late Saturday night.
Acting on the complaint, police arrested six persons, including four minors. The four minors were sent to Apna Ghar, while the other two accused have been granted three days police custody.
Investigating police officer, C L Patil, informed that the three minors among the arrested were habitual offenders and there are couple of criminal cases against them.
Police also suspect that the three two-wheelers used by the accused in the offence could be stolen as police haven’t received any documents pertaining to the ownership. [H]
