Pradeep emerges as overall champion

Panjim: Pradeep Verma of Punjab emerged as the overall champion in Body Building in the 6th Federation Cup 2017, National Senior Men’s Body Building and Men’s and Women’s Sport Physique Championship 2017 organised by Goa Body Building and Fitness Association at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, recently.Harleen Sethi from Maharashtra was the winner in Women’s Physique Sports category and Juned from Madhya Pradesh was the winner in men’s physique category. S Prasad of Tamil Nadu and Goan Joel Gonsalves bagged the best poser and most improved body builder awards respectively.Punjab were awarded the team champion while Maharashtra and Goa were the runners-up and first runners-up.The following are the other results: 90kg to 100 kg: S Prasad (Tamil Nadu), Shrideep Arvind Gawde (Maharashtra), Jayvant Pardhe (Maharashtra), Sujit Kumar Jena (Odisha), Ajinkya Asanare (Vidarbha).100 kg plus: Yogesh (Haryana) and Master Miron (Odisha).
Men’s Physique: Juned (Madhya Pradesh), Anil (Uttar Pradesh),  Harendra Singh Rawat (Uttarakhand), Kalai Selvan (Tamil Nadu), Shinu Chovva (Kerala).Women’s Physique: Harleen Sethi (Maharashtra), Dr Binal N Rana (Gujrat),  Nishrin Parikh (Maharashtra), Aditi Ahalawat (Madhya Pradesh).Over 147 athletes and 60 officials from 31 State /Union Territories participated in the various categories.In the senior men’s body building category there were 10 weight groups and men’s and women’s sports physique there were one group each.It was the first national championship for the men’s as well as women’s sports physique organized in Goa by Sanjay Patil, president of Goa Body Building and Fitness Association and his team.Earlier, the championship was inaugurated by Vijai Sardessai, town and country planning Minister, in the presence of guest of honour Govind Gawde, minister for Art and Culture; Premchand Degra, president, Indian Body Builders Federation; Chetan Pathare, general secretary; Sanjay Patil; Vishal Gupta, director, Viva Fitness and other dignitaries.
