Programme Officer for Provedoria
Growing complaints about poor managements of homes for the aged by the Directorate of Provedoria has compelled the government to appoint a Programme Officer even though there was no such post. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said this in the House Tuesday while taking on Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on the issue.
The Opposition Congress MLA said that the BJP government was blaming Congress for appointments made in the past and sought to know why the present government was doing the same.
In reply Parrikar said, “This appointment is not a mistake but a requirement,” pointing out as to how time and again the media was highlighting the pathetic condition of the government’s homes for the aged. He then said that since the matter was sub-judice, he would not speak further on the matter.
In another issue raised by Opposition leader Pratapsing Rane, the government on Tuesday said that encroachments in evacuee property in Mayem will be removed and legal solutions would be worked out on verifying dwelling houses situated in the evacuee property vested in the custodian. [H]
