Protecting environment from various pollutions need of the hour: Kumar

Sanquelim branch manager of State Bank of India (SBI), Mr Sandeep Kumar said that protecting environment from various pollutions has become the need of the hour and as such the SBI has started a unique initiative of providing water filters to government primary schools in the area so that the students could drink clean water and remain healthy.

He was addressing a gathering after donating a mega water filtering machine to the students of GPS, Arvalem recently. On this occasion, bank official, Mr Naresh Datye, PTA president, Mr Gopal Malik, journalist, Mr Chandrasekhar Desai, teacher, Ms Jyotsna Gaitonde, Ms Vanita Kale, ex-students, Mr Sagar Parwar and Mr Nilesh Malik were present on the dais.

In his address, Mr Datye said it is necessary to keep the school clean and maintain proper hygiene as the students will learn good habits from their schooling days.

Ex-students, Mr Sagar Parwar expressed gratitude to SBI for extending its help to the school while, teacher, Ms Jyotsna Gaitonde stressed the need for organising regular health checkup camps for students.

Ms Gaitonde compered the function and at the end proposed the vote of thanks. [NT]
