Ravi rules out joining NCP to grab LS ticket

Ruling out the possibility of joining Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to grab the Lok Sabha ticket, former home minister Ravi Naik said he is not interested in national politics at this juncture.
It may be recalled that the Goa NCP unit on Saturday had proposed name of Ravi Naik for the North Goa Lok Sabha seat to party President Sharad Pawar.
“Presently, NCP has not given me any such offer and even if it is given, my answer will be negative. I am a Congressman. My party takes decisions as to who will contest and from where. If NCP wants to field its candidate, then they should give chance to their own leaders,” Naik told Herald.
“My decision is clear on this issue, at present I don’t want to join neither NCP nor national politics,” he clarified.
In the 12th Lok Sabha election held in 1998, Ravi Naik had won the Panaji Lok Sabha seat on Congress ticket defeating Pandurang Raut (BJP) by 400 votes. [H]
