Reis Magos man duped us: Bank

An official from the Syndicate Bank has complained to the Panaji police that an individual from Reis Magos allegedly obtained a housing loan from the bank by providing false documents.

According to the police, Savita Kamat, regional head of Syndicate Bank, Panaji, stated in her complaint that on Novemebr 23, 2009, the accused, Rajendra Godkar, a resident of Ambekhanem, Reis Magos, obtained a housing loan from the Syndicate Bank's Caranzalem branch by submitting 'false and frivolous documents'.

The accused submitted an agreement for construction-cum-sale, dated November 11, 2009, with the second accused Shaikh Shakir, proprietor of Sun Builder and Developer. It was registered before the sub-registrar of Panaji on November 12, 2009, along with a false plan of a flat. The accused allegedly cheated the bank by illegally obtaining the loan from bank to the tune of 18 lakh. A case under Section 420, read with 34 of the IPC has been registered.
