Safety eludes schools in Bicholim taluka
The government primary Marathi schools in Bicholim taluka lack the basic infrastructure required to provide safety to the students studying there.
This shortcoming is on account of the department of education, which has not taken any initiative to put in place any mechanism to ensure the safety of students.
Now, the managements of government-aided schools have initiated the process of putting in place the necessary measures needed to prevent students from becoming the victims of molestation, kidnapping, rapes, etc.
The safety measures to be implemented in schools that are located in town and rural areas differ greatly. The town schools have greater student strength, often going up to a thousand or more. They have more classrooms, and being faced with noise pollution due to traffic lack an environment that is conducive to learning.
One such school is the Government Primary Marathi School, which is located near Bicholim market. Around 400 students are enrolled here. In the school building, centre for Aadhar cards, Teachers Cooperative Society and the taluka library are also located, and so is visited by many. [NT]
