Salgaocar pocket full points

Salgaocar Sports Club defeated Shillong Lajong Football Club 2-0 in a round 20 clash of the I-League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa on Saturday. First half goals from Josimar Da Silva and Randeep Singh provided David Booth’s team the necessary consistency in their performance. The Green Brigade have extracted some shocking results but have not been able to keep the winning momentum.
Coming from the 2-0 away win against Pune FC, Salgaocar coach David Booth had to offer Vinay Kumar a start in the goal after first choice keeper Karanjit Singh picked up an injury in the last game. The opening quarter of the match had nearly nothing noteworthy. The teams were restricted to midfield play as all the long balls seemed to be headed back into the midfield. Nevertheless, in the 20th minute a long floated ball from Salgaocar’s John Wilkinson resulted in a goal after striker Josimar Da Silva capitalized from a Lajong defensive lapse. [NT]
