Sancoale gram sabha seeks inquiry against ex-secretary

VASCO: The gram sabha of Sancoale village panchayat, on Sunday, unanimously adopted a resolution asking the panchayat to seek inquiry against a former secretary, who had allegedly issued construction licenses by bypassing the panchayat body.

The villagers also asked the panchayat to revoke of all the construction licences issued during the tenure of the secretary.
The gram sabha, which was chaired by the sarpanch, Mr Narayan Naik, has also asked the panchayat to file an FIR against the ex-secretary over missing proceeding books and minutes book.
The complaint will be lodged at the Verna police station, while a complaint will also be forwarded to the Panchayat Director for initiating necessary action.
The gram sabha members have unanimously resolved to oppose the mega and high rise building projects in the panchayat jurisdiction. It was brought to the notice of the gram sabha that during the tenure of previous panchayat body several licences were issued allegedly for illegal constructions and it was stressed that the matter needs to be enquired by filing a complaint with the Director of Panchayats.
A committee has been constituted in order to inspect the industries, taxes of which have not been revised for the last several years.
The issue pertaining to the garbage management was discussed at the  meeting. The members gave various suggestions for tackling the garbage problem. [NT]
