Sancoale panch alleges irregularities in p’yat
Former Sancoale sarpanch and Panch Ramakant Borkar has alleged irregularities by the panchayat secretary in connivance with the sarpanch.
In his complaint to the Director of Vigilance and other authorities, Borkar claimed that information availed under RTI revealed that since the time Secretary Kiran Mesta took charge, monthly statements of accounts have not been prepared and also minutes of panchayat meeting held during his tenure have not been recorded properly in the minutes book, thereby leaving scope for manipulation.
The complaint further stated that a NOC for trade licence based on a fake resolution was issued to a resident of Zuari Nagar by the secretary.
Borkar has demanded that stringent action against the sarpanch and secretary and also called for seizing of the pass book, cheque books, vouchers and other documents to unravel the truth.
Denying the allegations, Sarpanch Narayan G Naik said all transactions have been recorded in the cash book, but admitted that some vouchers are yet to be signed. “There is no misappropriation of funds whatsoever,” Naik said.
“You know that the secretary is holding additional charge of Sancoale and attends office only twice a week. So it is not possible for him to complete all duties in time taking into account the workload of the panchayat,” Naik told Herald. [H]
