Schemes to promote music: CM


Stating that Goa is a land of musicians, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said his government has introduced different novel schemes to promote music in the State.
He was speaking after inaugurating the first Pandit Narayan (Nana) Shirgaonkar Sangeet Smruti Sammelan, organized by Pandit Manohar Sangeet Sankritik Sanstha Assnora in association with Art and Cultural Department at Shantadurga Temple, Maite-Assnora, on recently.
Speaking further, Parrikar appealed all music people to bring new glory in the field of music.
In his speech, Art and Cultural Minister Dayanand Mandrekar stressed the need to encourage local artists instead of giving opportunities to the outsiders.
Wagh said the work done by Pandit Nana Shirgaonkar and his father Pandit Manoharbuwa Shirgaonkar in the field of music will always remain eternal.
Deputy Speaker Shet also spoke on the occasion.
Noted musicians Pandit Vamanrao Pilgaonkar, Pandit Tulshidas Navelkar, Madhusudan Chari, Manohar Mandrekar, Mohandas Pole, Master Pundalik Kalangutkar, Shankar Gaonkar and Govind Mapari were felicitated by the chief minister and other dignitaries for rendering invaluable service in the field of music.
