Sensitise Goa Police, CM urged


 The United Goans Welfare Front have urged Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar to overhaul the faltering police system and build a professional and rights respecting police force for Goa.
Members of the Front along with Fatorda Youth Association, Jai Damodar Association, besides Ronny Dias (Cuncolim), Clifton D’Souza (Velim) and others held an awareness campaign with banners at the Lohia Chowk, Assolna highlighting police brutalities against citizens in Goa and outside.
In his address, Laurel Abranches urged the Home Minister to sensitise the entire police department and dismiss the corrupt from service.
He urged the government to set up within the existing police stations a separate women police unit to take care and handle women complaints.
Socorro D’Souza demanded that the government strictly implement the supreme court judgment in the Prakash Singh versus Union of India case and called for implementation of the seven directives for better policing. [H]
