Siolim NCP block chides Education Dept
Nationalist Congress Party’s Siolim Block Committee chided the Education Department for declaring a discretionary holiday to schools on November 26 at the last minute and failing to communicate its decision in an effective manner, thus creating confusion among parents.
A press note issued by the Block President Michael D’Souza stated, “While some schools remained closed, others conducted their classes as usual. Working parents, who learnt of the holiday at the last minute, had to rush back to the schools in order to pick up their children or make alternate arrangements to see that they returned home safely.”
D’Souza said by abruptly extending the Diwali holiday by not giving timely notice was very irresponsible on part of the Education Department, which could have publicized it through the print and electronic media. [H]
