Margao: Tension prevailed in Sirvodem as a person who had arrived from Delhi and was directed to be in home quarantine, was seen moving freely around in the ward along the streets.
Though the police did visit they pleaded helplessness in dealing with the matter, while nobody answered the special “104” number given to refer Covid cases.
The 28-year-old male along with his 23-year old wife and their 2-year-old child had arrived from Delhi by the Rajdhani Express on May 17 and were kept in quarantine at a hotel, following which they were permitted to go home on Friday.
Both had tested negative for Covid-19 and had “home quarantine” stamped on their hands and they moved in to live with the wife’s parents who live in Sirvodem.
However, what irked the locals was the fact that the man was freely moving in public.
The person however, claimed that he had to move out of the house as his mobile was not getting the required range in the house. The neighbours were asked to call “104” to report the matter. However, nobody attend to this number and even the police constables could not get through to the helpline, according to sources.
The locals called Margao Municipal Councillor Doris Texeira who reportedly told them to contact “104” and said she could not to anything to help the locals. Margao MLA Digambar Kamat said he would speak to the Health Services about the matter. [H]
