Six-day Shigmostav festival to begin on Feb 27 in Ponda

Ponda: The six-day Shigmostav festival will be held from February 27 to March 4 with the festivities beginning by offering prayers to Goddess Mahalsa at Mardol, Shigmostav Committee President and PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar told the media after a meeting at Rajiv Kala Mandir. The meeting was attended by local Sarpanchas, Zilla Panchayat members and Ponda councillors.
Dhavalikar said the prize money has been increased this year in order to encourage the creativity of the artists. The first prize for the float competition is Rs 85,000, second Rs 65000, third Rs 50,000 along with various consolation prizes. For Romtamel competition the first prize will be Rs 65,000, second Rs 45,000, third Rs 25,000, beside four consolation prizes. For fancy dress competition first prize will be Rs 35000, second Rs 25000, third prize Rs 15000 along with consolation prizes. [H]
