Sonsodo site report in 10 days: D’Souza
Former chief minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat Tuesday cautioned Urban Development Minister Francis D’Souza that the solid waste treatment plant set up in Margao would fail, if house-to-house garbage collection was not done. The former urban development minister drew the attention of the Goa Assembly on Tuesday to the proposition that house to house garbage collection could be outsourced if required to ensure enough load for the new waste treatment plant to ensure its proper functioning.
Kamat expressed concern that big money was being spent on the plant and issues, if any, should be resolved to generate optimum results. Kamat also sought to know why the final detailed project report on the capping of the existing waste site at Sonsoddo has not yet been submitted. He said, “Three months have lapsed since the draft was submitted. Is it because the company has not been paid that the final report is still pending?” According to him the high powered committee had decided to expedite the matter. [H]
