Sporting Clube juniors qualify for play-offs

Akeraj Martins netted five goals as Sporting Clube de Goa qualified for the Ilhas play-offs after trouncing Don Bosco Oratory 10-0 in GFA U-16 league at Don Bosco grounds, Panaji.
Sporting Goa led 6-0 at the interval. Don Bosco fielded a very young side which put up a heroic performance, but succumbed to the smooth and slick movement of their opponents. Jonathan Cardoza opened the scoring within 97 seconds as he blasted straight down the middle to complete a good passing move by his team mates. Within a twelve-minute spell, Akeraj achieved a golden hat-trick, utilising his pace and clinical finishing which made it look easy. Dion Fernandes galloped forward on the half hour mark to blast his fifth and just three minutes later Akeraj found the back of the net yet again. Changing over, Akeraj placed the ball home for his fifth and Sporting Goa’s seventh. In the last ten minutes Elmer Sequeira bagged a hat-trick, for the second match in succession to cap off a great win. The Flaming Oranje Juniors completed their 1st round appointments with 12 points after four wins from four matches. [NT]
