Sporting Davorlim reach finals

Sporting Club of Davorlim entered the finals of Wilred Leisure Super Soccer when they knocked out SCC Loutolim 4-2 via the tie-breaker at DSYA grounds, Curtorim on Monday.

So absorbing was the match that the teams went all out in both sessions but returned without scoring during the regulation time. The goalkeepers of both the teams played a stellar role in the regulation time in preventing the strikers from scoring as they brought off spectacular saves.
While Davorlim keeper Sachin Astekar brought off at least four saves in all, his Loutolim counterpart Minguel Ataide made three fine saves.
Both the teams had chances to score in both the sessions of play. Though initially the proceedings unfolded on a cautious note, the tempo of the match began to escalate within ten minutes of play. During this spell there was bombardment at both the ends with both  the goalkeepers showing their class. First it was the Davorlim team that began to launch attacks against their rivals with powerful shots but had no effect as Loutolim keeper was confident enough to guard his goal well.
Thereafter, pressure began to tell on the Davorlim lads in the post interval session and during this time,it was keeper Sachin Astekar who deprived the attacking rivals of the goals they were searching for.
As the teams were locked in a goalless draw, the tie-breaker system was adopted in which Davorlim scored accurately through Bonny Niasso, Jose Colaco, Maclin Colaco and Venson Figueredo.
Loutolim could find the mark only through Walney Vaz and Joslon Fernandes. [NT]
