St Savio SC pile misery on Goa Velha

Panjim: St. Savio SC continued to dominate in the GENO First Division League organised by Goa Football Association, defeating Goa Velha SC 4-0, at Sirsaim ground, on Sunday.St. Savio SC came into the game with a 2-1 win against the Dempo (Jrs) side while Goa Velha SC lost their previous encounter 7-0 to YC Manora.The first half witnessed an equal game as both teams had their share of chances with the Calangute side looking dominant in attack. But neither of the teams were able to convert in the first session as they headed into the break goalless.On resumption, St. Savio’s SC came out on full attack as they netted the first goal in the 46th minute itself through Shashank Naik. Sanket Jotkar added two more quick goals in the 58th and 60th minute to give the St. Savio team a 3-0 lead. Nothing seemed to have been working for the Goa Velha side who looked poor in defence since the start of the season as Vipul Pednekar added further misery by netting in the fourth goal for the winners in the 86th minute.With this win St. Savio’s SC continue to sit at the top of the table with 12 points after having won all their 4 games while the Goa Velha team are yet to register a win in the league as they have lost all 4 of their previous outings. Sanket Jotkar bagged the Man-of-the-Match award, his fourth in the league. [H]
