St Xavier’s lift women’s cricket title

 

St Xavier’s College, Mapusa defeated PES College, Farmagudi by 9 wickets to win the Goa University Cricket Championship for women.
PES batted first  and scored 99/8 in 20 overs. Sidhita Naik  and Bindiya Gawade contributed with 17 runs each while  Sonali Gaunder claimed 2 for 14 for St Xavier’s.
 
In reply, St Xavier’s reached the target in 17 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Elsi Fernandes 25  and Desiree Pereira 32* were the chief run-getters.  Sidhita Naik claimed the lone wicket conceding 23 runs.
Sonali Gaunder of St Xavier’s College, Mapusa was awarded best player of the championship, while Desiree Pereira of St Xavier’s was awarded woman of the match.
Dr Anil S Dinge, Principal of PES College, Farmagudi was chief guest and Dr Varsha Kamat also of PES College was guest of honour for the presentation ceremony.
