‘Startup Conclave’ to showcase final year students’ projects

Panaji: Thirty projects by final year engineering and architecture students that have the potential of being commercially viable will be displayed at the ‘Startup Conclave’ of the third edition of the Goa Biz Fest 2018.The final year engineering students as well as those who have recently graduated could also see their projects picked up by venture capitalists who will be attending the fest.The Business Network International (BNI), Goa Region, and Goa Entrepreneurs Mentoring Services (GEMS) Trust are currently sifting through around 100 projects, trying to shortlist the 30 best. “This is to inspire and encourage the students to take up projects with the intention of making them commercially viable,” said Rajkumar Kamat, executive director Goa Biz Fest.Awards to the three outstanding projects will also be presented at the three-day fest that begins February 8 at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim.
Industry veterans will also interact with students and share their challenges, while also making them brainstorm for solutions.At the job and career fair which is also part of the Biz Fest, unemployed, underemployed as well as final year college students will get the opportunity to interact with human resource executives from various companies. “Depending on whether they are interested in entrepreneurship or looking to get employed, they will be equipped with required skills including how to prepare their resumes and how to excel at job interviews,” Kamat said.A special attraction at the fest will be chief minister Manohar Parrikar sharing his government’s vision for Goa 2022 as well as job opportunities for Goan youth, said speaker Pramod Sawant.
