State Government to refloat HSRP tenders

The controversial High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) will be tendered for the third time with transport ministry declaring that it would refloat tenders for the installation of the plates, following protests against the previous tenders issued in April 2012.
Replying to queries from the media Thursday, Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said, “The new tender will co-opt local painters for the purpose of fitting the plates.”
Transport Director, Arun Desai said, “The tender would be in 2 parts ~one which will invite agencies to design, manufacture and supply and the second for engaging local painters for fitting the plates onto vehicles,” he said.
The draft tender has already been sent to the government and is likely to be issued by January 15.
The tendering process, selections and work orders would take at least four months, Desai said.
Like the earlier proposal, High Security Registration Plates  installations would be done at seven stations ~Bicholim, Ponda, Mapusa, Panjim, Margao, Vasco and Quepem. [H]
