State wins Best Beach destination award
The State has won the Best Beach destination category award at the CNBC Awaaz Tourism awards which were held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, recently.
The recent efforts undertaken by Goa Government to improve Goa's beaches and make them attractive for tourists has paid rich dividends.
Arvind Khutkar, Deputy Director of Tourism received the awards at the hands of Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad. Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar expressed his happiness on receiving the award and reiterated his commitment to further improve Goan beaches and tourism infrastructure so that Goa becomes one of the best Tourism destinations in the world in the coming years.
It may be recalled that the state Government has undertaken several measures to ensure safety and security of the tourists on Goan beaches by deploying IRB personnel, formulation of water sports and beach shack policy and rigorous enforcement and control of illegalities such as illegal masseurs, illegal shacks, nomads, hawkers, beggars etc on all beach stretches of the state.
