Taleigao demolish Salcete in 1st Division


Sao Minguel Taleigao demolished Salcete Football Club 5-1 in the GFA’s First Division League match played at Duler grounds, here on Wednesday.
Taleigao dominated almost the entire first session of play, to go into the breather with a three-goal lead.
Pramod Mardolkar opened the account for Taleigao in the 5th minute of play, scoring off a poor collection by the Salcete keeper, 1-0.
Taleigao had two more chances to score, but Richard Dias’ shot was blocked by goalkeeper, while Vincy Fernandes’ header missed the target narrowly.
After Geetesh Borkar’s power-packed shot was blocked by Taleigao keeper Xavier Estrocio, Richard Dias dribbled past a couple of Salcete defenders and scored with a neat placement, 2-0.
Pramod almost netted his second goal off a cross by Bazileo Rego, which hit the side goal post. However in the injury time, his curling shot from the edge of the box beat Salcete keeper Olten Fernandes hands down,3-0.
On crossing over Salcete’s Francis Andrade free kick was stylishly collected by Taleigao keeper. In the 71st minute Taleigao’s medio Thomson Fernandes sent a long cross to Vincy Fernandes on the left flank who after covering 20 yards drilled a low shot to the far corner of the goal, 4-0.
The best chance for Salcete to score came in the 83rd minute of play, as Francis Andrade sent a through pass to substitute Naill Cardozo, who beat the off-side trap and sent a placement to find Taleigao keeper Xavier come with a full stretched one hand save.
Salcete finally had something to cheer as Jouston Barbosa scored from just inside the penalty box, from a goalmouth melee, 4-1.
Taleigao’s hunger for goals did not end as substitute Gautam Kankonkar netted the fifth goal to make it 5-1.
At Poriat grounds, Calangute, Curtorim Gymkhana registered a fluent 3-0 win over Young Boys of Tonca.  At the breather Curtorim were leading by 2-0.
In the 10th minute Neves Noronha headed the ball into the goal off a corner by Rosario Fernandes. Five minutes later, Eusebio Fernandes made it 2-0.
On crossing over, in the 60th minute, Eusebio crossed the ball to Roy Colaco who netted the third goal off a perfect cross. [NT]
