Tamhankar quits as Cong spokesperson
Voluble Congress spokesperson Sudip Tamhankar put in his resignation as a Congress spokesman even as party leadership refused to accept it, instead asking him to carry on, assuring that issues would be resolved.
While Tamhankar said he had resigned owing to personal reasons, Congress Legislative Party spokesman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco admitted that there were differences between him and some party members.
"Sudip submitted his resignation today (Thursday) over some party differences but the party has not accepted it. We have told him that we will work together,” Reginaldo said.
He however did not elaborate on what the differences were or with whom.
“There were slight differences within the party… a difference of opinion… he continues to be party spokesman,” Reginaldo said.
Tamhankar while speaking to Herald said that the task of spokesperson should be borne by all the appointed spokespersons. “I submitted my resignation on personal grounds. I could not manage both my business and my job as spokesperson,” Tamhankar said.
“There are other appointed spokespersons. All the spokespersons should equally bear the responsibility for the job,” he added. [H]
