Tenements demolished in Loutolim Comunidade land


A scrap yard and tenements situated in Loutolim Comunidade land  surveyed  under Survey No 232/25 along the Angdi – Borim bypass road  were demolished by the South Goa administrator of Comunidades, Pravin M S Barad  on Friday.  
Margao deputy collector Dashrath Redkar along with a strong police force comprising of two battalions of men and women headed by the Maina Curtorim PI Gurudas Kadam, Loutolim Comunidade president, treasurer and escrivao were present during the demolition.
Loutulim comunidade president Franky Monteiro told the media that it was in 2005 that the process to clear the encroachment allegedly by Valeriano Fernandes, Angadi, Loutulim had begun, with then administrator issuing an order to Fernandes to clear the encroachment.  However, Fernandes have challenged administrator order before the Administrative Tribunal in 2007 which was dismissed. 
However the issue of demolition, Monteiro said, remained dormant because of administrator failure to follow up and that it was after the president taking up the issue that administrator Barad, he said wrote to the deputy collector requesting for demolition squad which was made available by Redkar. 
Monteiro informed that structures demolished had been identified after make a survey of the land belonging to Communidade which he said bears survey No. 232/25 also adding that comunidade land had not been acquired by PWD as claimed by Fernandes. 
On the other hand, Fernandes claimed that Monteiro had taken revenge on him as he had put up application under RTI Act before the Loutolim panchayat secretary asking information on AC installed in the cabin of Sarpanch, Maria Monteiro, wife of the Loutolim comunidade president. Franky, however, has denied the allegation.
Fernandes also claimed that his construction and scrap yard was in private land and existed since 1998 and that he had been denied the opportunity to defend his case.  [H]
