Three held for drug possession

Calangute: Goa police arrested three persons on Tuesday in three different cases on charges of illegal possession of drugs.In the first case, Sunil Kumar, 22, native of Rampur, Himachal Pradesh, was nabbed with drugs worth Rs 1.95 lakh at Calangute. He was employed as a cook at a restaurant in Gauravaddo.Kumar was frisked and charas worth Rs 1.4 lakh and ganja worth Rs 55,000 was seized. He was arrested after being charged under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.In the second case, Vasco police arrested Rasul Sayed, 23, for carrying 119g of marijuana.
Police said that Sayed works as a driver. When he was detained, a check revealed that he had 119g of marijuana worth about Rs. 23,800. He was taken into police custody and further investigation is on.In the third case, Anjuna police arrested a Jharkhand native working as a taxi driver in Goa for illegal possession of narcotics drugs suspected to be ganja weighing 1.5kg worth Rs 1.5 lakh.Police laid a trap at Arpora and caught Suresh Chaurasia, 31, with illegal possession of narcotics substance suspected to be ganja. Police also seized a mobile phone and cash of Rs 2,000 from his possession. Further investigation is on. [TOI]
