Toyota on top in latest consumer reports survey

Toyota is the top performer in Consumer Reports' annual rankings of vehicle reliability. The rankings predict the reliability of cars based on surveys of Consumer Reports readers. This year, 800,000 people submitted information on 1.2 million vehicles from 2010 to 2012 model years. The makings are critical for auto companies. The annual survey is used to offer Consumer Reports readers a guide to vehicle reliability – but also serves as a component for CR researchers to decide which models to recommend or warn against. Toyota Kirloskar Motor India has recorded 14% growth in October 2012.selling 12,281 units in October 2012 as compared to 10,762 units in the corresponding month last year. Innova registered 73% growth with 5,889 units being sold as compared to 3,411 units sold in October last year. Fortuner registered 81% growth with 1,378 units sold as compared to 763 units in the corresponding month last year. Toyota feels the market is sti ll sluggish, especially the passenger car segment. The SUV and MPV segments are comparatively better and we hope to see the market picking up, as the festive season continues, says the press note.
