Transport director warns private RTO agents

 

The director of transport, Mr Arun Desai, has warned of initiating strict action against agents making a fast buck by selling various forms at extra prices in RTO offices throughout the state.
 
Mr Desai was speaking to the media during a visit to the office of the assistant director of transport in Vasco wherein he was apprised about the rampant practice.
Mr Desai has directed officials of transport department to initiate strict action against those found operating illegally in and around the office premises of assistant director of transport.
He further directed officials to display a board outside the office premises of the transport department giving details of price lists of the forms available with them.
Mr Desai called on authorised agents who are operating in the respective areas not to charge a single paisa more than the official rates.
Speaking further, the director of transport  claimed that he is aware of inconvenience faced by people at the office of the assistant director of transport in Vasco due to the lack of space.
He told that the transport department is trying to shift the present office premises in other spacious premises of about 250 square meters and added that talks to hire new premises are on.
“In order to bring the department on a right track and give attention to the public, I have decided to visit all the offices once in a month”, said Mr Desai. [NT]
