Trawler owners tight-lipped on meet with Moily
The trawler owners who met the Petroleum Minister, Mr Veerappa Moily in Delhi on Wednesday, were tight-lipped on the outcome of the meeting.
Speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’ from Delhi, Mr Simon Pereira, former president of the Goa Fishing Boat Owners Association, said that what transpired between the trawler owners and the Minister in the final meeting, would only be revealed through a statement issued by the All India Federation of Fishing Trawler Owners.
At the same time, Mr Pereira said that nothing has been decided on the duration of the ongoing strike of the trawler owners, although initially, the strike which commenced on January 29 was supposed to be indefinite.
The five-member delegation from Goa will arrive back in the state on Thursday. They were also accompanied by the Congress MPs, Mr Shantaram Naik and Mr Francisco Sardinha, during their meeting in Delhi. [NT]
