Truck mishap paralyses traffic at Porvorim

A truck carrying ATM machines fell on its side near Porvorim Bazar on Friday, paralyzing vehicular traffic along the NH17.
Long queues of vehicles proceeding from Panjim towards Mapusa were seen during peak hours in the morning.
Speaking to Herald, Parmajeet Sing, driver of the truck (MH-04-FP-2962), informed that he was proceeding to New Delhi with 16 ATM machines and electronic scrap.
“At about 2 am, a Karnataka car tried to overtake me and in the process slightly dashed the truck, due to which I lost control over the vehicle and the truck fell on its side,” informed Sing.
The truck driver further informed that the three inmates of the car on the pretext of offering him medical treatment pushed him inside their car and on reaching Colvale beat him up. “Somehow, I managed to escape from their clutches,” added Sing.
A case has been registered with Porvorim Police.  [H]
