Twist to Sancoale sarpanch election

In a new development to the controversy surrounding the election to the post of Sancoale sarpanch, the Additional Director of Panchayats (I) has suspended the execution of the no-confidence resolution which purported to have ousted Sarpanch Narayan G Naik on January 1.
While, the suspension of the no-trust resolution by the Additional Director of Panchayats means Naik remains as sarpanch, what is significant is the status of the order of the Director of Panchayats calling for fresh election to the post of sarpanch on March 25.
In fact, the direction for holding a fresh election to the post of sarpanch follows the orders of the High Court to the Director of Panchayats calling for fresh elections to the post of sarpanch within three weeks after a Writ Petition was filed by Panch Ramakant Borkar and other panchas seeking fresh election to the post of sarpanch.
In the same order, the High Court had also left the option open to the respondent (Naik) to challenge the no-confidence motion against him.
Naik requested the Director of Panchayats to withdraw the notice for  sarpanch elections on March 25, in view of the suspension of the no-trust resolution which ousted him.
