Two held for bid to cheat job seekers at Calangute

 Calangute Police on Saturday arrested two persons, including a Canadian woman, on charges of attempting to cheat job seekers.

According to Calangute Police, accused, Issac Rajkumar (34) of Chennai and Melanie Iverson (46) from Canada, had released an advertisement in the local newspapers in October for jobs in Canada.

Police further informed that the accused accordingly conducted a seminar at Gaura Vaddo in Calangute on Saturday evening, where many job seekers had turned up.

Police said the accused collected a minimal fee from the job seekers.

Acting on the tip-off, Calangute Police rushed to the spot and arrested the duo and on investigation, it was revealed that the accused did not have any licence to provide jobs.

Calangute Police arrested Rajkumar and Iverson under Section 420 r/w 511 of IPC and Section 10 of the Emigration Act, 1983 for attempting to cheat job seekers without having licence. Police is investigating the case. [H]
